This summer we will offer Sunday School at 9:30 and 11:00 each week for children in Pre-k/3 through 4th grade.  Please note, on Communion Sundays (6/4, 7/2, 8/6), we will walk the children in Kindergarten through 4th grade down to the worship area at the end of the service to participate in Holy Communion with their families.  The children will then stay with their parents through the end of the service.

We are excited to share that we are streamlining our child care head count.  We have established an e-mail account specifically to report child care numbers for Bible Studies, Life Groups and meetings.  This can be used by group leaders or individual parents beginning immediately.  Parents will need to zip an email like this "Parker Family 3/12/2017=3 children" to the e-mail address  You may also send any questions to that e-mail address.

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”  Matthew 19:14

This January, we will begin one of my favorite opportunities for our students.  Our Confirmation Program serves as an opportunity for youth in grades seven and above to explore the Christian faith and to make a commitment to become a disciple of Jesus Christ.  Each youth will learn what it means to be a Christian and a member of the United Methodist Church.  The goal of this program is not for students to simply become members of this church, but for them to learn to love Jesus with their whole hearts and to love the church as it carries out Jesus’ mission in the world.  Nothing gets me more excited than this!

There will be a mandatory orientation and information meeting concerning the 2017 Confirmation Program on Sunday, January 8, at 5:00 pm in the Upper Room.  Classes will take place Sunday, January 15 through April 23 from 9:30 am-12:15 pm.  The entire confirmation class will attend worship and Sunday school together as part of the confirmation process.  January 15-February 19, the students will attend 9:30 worship and have class at 11:00.  The Confirmation students and their parents will be leading shifts for the Fellowship Breakfast on April 2 as a way to serve our church. February 26 –April 23, they will attend class at 9:30 and worship at 11:00.  Our mandatory confirmation retreat will be the weekend of March 3-5.  We will celebrate Confirmation Sunday on April 30 with our rehearsal dinner on Saturday, April 29.

Each youth will be assigned a mentor group that they will meet with throughout the Confirmation Program. On January 8, we will discuss the schedule, curriculum, and expectations for Confirmation; fill out the necessary paperwork; and answer questions.  Please bring your child’s date of baptism to this meeting if they have already been baptized. Your attendance at this meeting, all the classes, and the retreat is very important to make your Confirmation experience both meaningful and memorable.  Attendance is mandatory at the January 8 meeting for youth and at least one parent.  Youth are also required to attend all of the Confirmation Retreat and at least 80% of the classes and church services in order to be eligible to be confirmed.  Any exceptions must be cleared ahead of time with Kathy.

We encourage you to prayerfully and faithfully consider your participation in the 2017 Confirmation Program.  Traditionally, Confirmation has been offered to 7th graders, but if you do not feel your child is ready, we encourage you to wait a year.  Families are also encouraged to be actively involved in the confirmation process.  There are a number of Sunday school classes available for you to attend during the Sunday morning hours, and families are welcome to sit with the confirmation class during worship each week.  The students who gain the most from confirmation are those whose parents are actively involved in making this a positive experience and a priority for their entire family.

We are eager to embark on this exciting journey of discipleship for Jesus Christ with you.  We hope to see you on Sunday, January 8, at 5:00 pm in the Upper Room.   If you have any questions, please contact Mark Confer at

Follow the trail, join the pack!
We have a great program for 1st - 5th grade boys. Most of our pack members attend Edgewood Elementary, but boys from ANY school  in the county may join our pack. We welcome other boys in the area and you may join at any time.

The Cub Scout Pack meets every Tuesday evening from 7-8pm at the First United Methodist church in the basement.  We meet during the school year, and offer cookout & camping opportunities as well as a 1 week Summer Day Camp.

Boy Scout Troop 101 stayed busy this winter.  In February they built a dog sled with optional wheels in case we didn't have snow to race at the Klondike Derby Camporee (no dogs were used for this race :-).

As an Eagle Project, the troop cleaned and built shelving in the attic upstairs for FUMC.  The Boy Scout Troop helped with parking for the Marysville Bluegrass Concert series this Winter.  In May as a service project they cleaned up the Amrine Cemetery and have a campout planned in Michigan.  On May 30th, the scouts will have a Court of Honor in the Sanctuary from 6:30pm to 8pm.  They are off to summer camp at Seven Ranges in Kensington, OH from June 18-24.

Marysville First United Methodist Church and Marysville Nazarene Church hosts Upward Basketball and Cheerleading. This ministry is offered to children K-8th grade.

The goal of Upward Basketball and Cheerleading is to give each child the best game day experience possible with equal playing time while providing a "sports arena" feel and excellent coaching/teaching of the best fundamentals of each activity. Thus, God is using a ball in this community to bring new families to him and strengthen current relationships.
